Title: Stevie - External Tibias - Dr. Xia - 2012: This is my time to get TALLER.
Post by: stevie on July 30, 2012, 07:50:17 PM
Ok fellas,

I have made a decision going to get myself taller by lengthening my tibias.
I will be leaving the States this afternoon (6h from now) on a non stop flight to Beijing.

I'm currently at 158 cm.
I want to get at least 7.5 cm to 8 cm taller.

nice one Stevie, you've made the right decision for coming to china to do your LL surgery. once you're here i probably wont able to greet you  ;D as i'll have my 2nd op to remove my frames. (very happy  :D )

by the way Dr Xia has retired long ago, he doesn't do surgeries. You probably get Dr. Peng to do it like the rest of us.

I heard Dr. Xia still does surgeries....but only on a selective basis. I will inquire that he and Dr. Peng do my 2nd operation when the time comes. My first surgery had minor complications so I really really don't want that to happen again.

Wake up guys,

It's 8 AM here in Beijing and you guys still in bed. I need company... I'm bored here.

I've arrived to Beijing last night, I got someone else luggage. 1 of mine luggage is still at the airport somewhere, that's suck. :D
I might need to go back to the airport to get it today.

My first week after the surgery wasn't that bad:

What I can tell you guys is that I have no pains, no fevers... at all since my surgery on August 6th. I just eat a lot, pee a lot, sleep a lot, and have a lot of fun talking to patients here.

I stay on the East Wing with Kato, Phung, and Lyn. They are all very nice: Kato bought me ice cream, Phung gave me his only router (so now he shares with Kato), Lyn gave me a pack of SalonPas. :D

Anyhow, This is my 1st x-ray after the surgery which i took on Friday (5 days after the surgery).

Phung said no "gave" on the router ... only borrow. The laser pointer was a gift.

Lol nah.
They didn't upgrade me at all.
They did put me at the front of the economy class so I had room to stretch out my legs but the ride was uncomfortable, especially because of the supporters.
Supporters way too tight and digs into my skin :(

I'm planning to do all that and I shall update soon :)

And I was planning to go to your room one last time before I left and say bye to you guys but the driver just wheeled me out the front of the hospital lol

Anyway you should go walk outside - time will pass quicker lol

1cm:

Yes, I am now 1 cm taller than my initial height.

First 10 days: Piece of cake. I could stand after 7 days, Walked after 8 days, Going to the toilet with only 1 chairs with help from the maid. I actually went to the bathroom myself once, but it took me over 20 mins. No pains. No Turning.... nothing special...

Day 11th: That was my first day of turning.
Doctor Han came to show me how to turn the knobs and asked me to do 4 turns per day. He actually turned for me so i could see on both legs (all 8 knobs), and asked me to turn again for him to see, so I did 1 more turn on both of my legs. I could feel there was some tightness in my right leg but nothing unbearable so i didn't say anything.

I turned again after 2 hours, and I heard a "cracking" sound from my shin bone in my right leg, and it was really hurt right there in the middle of my shin, so i thought it could be my bone have already healed so I started to turn more...

By the end of the day, I did total 7 turns.

Day 12th: There was no pain in my left leg, and my right leg still had some pain in the middle of my shin, I asked Dr Han and he said its common and have nothing to worry about. I asked some patients here and they told me they had the same thing when they first started turning. So I thought to myself... maybe i should give it 1 or 2 more days, and maybe the pain will go a way. But on the back of my mind.... I still thought my bone growth is too good and maybe they had already healed... so by the end of the day... I did total of another 7 turns.

Day 13th: 12 turns/day.
I woke up and the pain on my right leg really worried me, I really thought  my bone have already healed before i started turning, and i just broke it again when I turned the other day, so I turned the whole 7 turns at once in the morning on my right leg to, and 2 turns on my left. By the end of the day... I did 7 turns on my left leg, and 12 turns on my right leg.

Day 14th: Pain Pain Pain...
I emailed Ronne asking her to have another x-ray as soon as possible. I wanted to see what was going on with my right leg, but it was Sunday, so I need to wait to Monday to take the x-ray. I actually listen to the doctor and turn 4 turns today.

Day 15th: No More Pain...
I woke up and... no pain, nothing at all. but I don't want to risk it again, so I promised myself i will do only as dr told me.... 4 turns everyday.

Day 16th: X-rays Day
My maid wheeled me down to the x-ray room, and I actually got up to the table myself with a little help from my maid (held the wheelchair for me)
Dr Han saw the x-ray and looked at me like this O_O... then he asked me... "How many turns u turned per day?... "4" i said... :D. He pointed his 2 fingers to his eyes, then pointed them to my x-ray then said...."No, u did more than 4 per day. I can see, I can see". Then he made me promise him only 4 turns per day from now on.

Day 17th: Muscle Pain on my Left Leg.
As soon as the pain on my right leg went a way, My left leg started to get some pain from its inner knee. I told Ronne and Dr Han about this, and they seem to worry more than when I told them about the pain i had in my right leg. They asked my maid to massage my knee for me. Ronne bought me this Chinese Hot Pad so i can put them on.

Day 18th to 22th: Same Pain from my inner knees ... but this time it happened to my right leg too, So both legs were "bu hao". any movements of the legs caused me pain.

Day 23th: I wanted to take a break from turning, but then I ended up turned 3 turns today.

Day 24th: I decided to take a break for 1 days to see if the pain will go away...but then Ronne came and asked me to rest for 2 days.

Day 25th: Woke up, there was no pains on my left leg. I could lift it, bend it, shake it... There still some pain on my left leg, I couldnt lift when the dr asked me today, couldnt bend it, but i could shake it. :D.. .. And this is my second day since i stopped lengthening... so i went out to Ilike8cm's room, went to becomehappy's room..

I came back to my room today around 7PM... put my legs to test again .. and all of the sudden... Both legs are "hen hao" NO MORE PAIN.
oh... Today I turned 4 turns.

Hi Stevie, thanks for writing a diary

Why did you turn 12 turns a day if the Dr said only 4 per day?

Are there others doing more than 4 per day consistently without any pain or complications?

Hey Stevie, initially when you do this surgery, you can get away with lengthening larger amounts. I was wondering what your opinion is on doing about 1 mm a day for a 3 week time frame? Is that going to be a lot of pressure too quickly? I know Dr. Sarin from India advocates faster lengthening at first, accompanied by slower lengthening at a later time. BTW I'll be 22 when I get this surgery if you think that's a factor.

Thanks!

Chef. You're Fired!!!

This is not the first time. Do not bother coming to my room again with a fake smile on your face asking me what I want for lunch, then give me something else disgusting. My dog at home wouldn't eat what the chef made me for lunch today. I feel like the chef in this hospital gives us no respect. We are not little children that you can play around with.

I've been drinking water to survive for 2 days now. This is just ridiculous, I'm not here living off of this hospital, I paid for everything, and I deserved to get what I paid for, or at least give me some respect - give me what I have ordered. If for some reasons you can't make it, can't cook, too lazy to go buy groceries, too much time cooking... then tell me, I will try to order something else.

This is what I ordered. I show him the picture of what I want from my ipad:

And this is what he gave me:

And of course I put it where it should belong:

I wonder if they have a new chef? We usually got what we ordered. But the food was not that good either. You can go to Chinese McDonalds and pizza hut website and ask the maid to order food for you. Pizza Hut have many dishes that are really good. I still have the sites bookmarked in my ipad lol

http://www.4008123123.com/phhsios/index.htm?utm_source=PHDI&utm_medium=banner&utm_content=topnavigation&utm_campaign=PHHS

The site's domain is the phone number to order. You can talk to ronnie about ordering food from outside and not eating hospital food. She can give you a discount for the monthly fee.

2 cm:

I have reached 2cm today.

My current condition:

1. I don't have a lot of pain, just that I still have not get used to the frames around my legs yet. sometimes my legs feel very tight especially in the evening around 8-9pm.
2. Even though I do not have pain on my knees, I still can not bend my right leg. Its frustrating to keep my leg straight the whole time. I tried to work on it, massage it, but nothing works. Ronne told me to give it another week, if I still can't bend then I might have to go back to the operation room so doctors can help me bend my right leg. I would request to have Dr Peng to do that. I don't trust anyone else.
3. I was thinking about requesting to have Dr Peng as my duty doctor. I feel more comfortable with him than any other doctors.
4. The food got a lot better after my maid told Ronne i dumped my food in the trash.

Here is my chart:

You will need about 6 to 7 months in total.
6 cm = 60 mm = 90 days of turning ( if you only do 4 turns everyday)
You will need another 4 months to walk normally again if theres no complications, no infections.

But then it depends on your age ( the younger the easier), gender ( its easier for female than male).

Out of my bed:

I finally can bend my right leg and started walking for 4 days now (i dont walk much, only about 100m everyday). Its great to not stay in ur bed all day every day.

Weight lost:

I've lost 8 kg in 2 months. I was 55 kg when i first arrived, now im only 50kg including 3kg from frames. I promise to myself i will eat anything everything from now on to gain back some weight.

Bone popping:

I have a little bone popping on both of my shins, its a little painful and i cant walk much today. I might need to have them pushed back tomorrow.

Pain:

Theres always pain when u have metal go through ur bones, ur flesh, and u have to sleep with heavy frames on your legs for months. So theres no such thing as 'no pain' even when we say so.

Everything else:

Everything else is great, we always keep ourselves busy by visiting each other, playing cards, drinking...

No pains, no knees bending, no ballerina, but again, I only do 4 turns everyday.

4.5 cm, another 2 cm to go.

I took my x-rays on Friday, and my doctor told me that Im at 4.5 cm on both legs.
I started getting knee bending when i reached 4 cm, it's not that bad, just that its kinda weird to wake up every time with bend knees. It take me about 2 mins to put them back down. I do sandbagging about 4x15 mins/everyday since.

I also have a little ballerina on my right leg. fighting ballerina is not easy as fighting knee bending. My right calf and thigh muscles got some pain at night, I take some painkiller, but it doesnt seem to help.

After i've reached 4 cm, I don't walk much anymore. there were days I didn't walk at all, but when i walk, i only walk for about 50m very early in the morning.
I stand at least 1.5 hour everyday; 15 mins when i just wake up, 15 mins after my first turn, 15 mins after my second turn, 15 mins after my 3rd turn, 15 mins after my last turn, and 15 mins around 10 before heading to bed.

Here are the x-rays that i took on friday.

Nope. I'm very lazy. I'm that guy who never exercises, no stretching, nothing. :D

is bent knees when the knees are going down or up.  and is sun bagging when you put like a bag under your knees when you sleep?

is bent knees when the knees are going down or up.  and is sun bagging when you put like a bag under your knees when you sleep?

When your legs are straight (180 degrees)....there is no knee bending. Knee bending is when the angle is less than 180 degrees.

Sandbagging is where you put a bag of sand on the bended knees to achieve 180 degrees.

While lengthening, bending your knees is very comfortable because your soft tissues are not being stretched. Drs suggest keeping legs straight as often as possible during the day.....and sleep with bended knees if it helps you sleep. Some ppl like to go overboard and sleep with sandbags.

Good luck with consolidation!

Why did you stop at 6.5cm? in first post you mentioned you won't atleast 7.5cm

There are several reasons for me to not go all the way to 7.5 or 8 cm.

1. I want to be able to walk home.
2. Less complications.
3. My femurs are only 6cm longer than tibias to beging with.
4. I might do another 5 or 6 cm on my femurs later on.

Congratulation Stevie. .  Nice diary and you are also my inspiration for limb lengthening.

I'm starting at 150cm and am male.  I'm looking to go to India due to the reputation and price of Dr.  Sarin.

hey stevie thanks for the update. Were you the one who uploaded videos of your exercises on youtube?

You should be very happy you didn't go through much pain and complications, there is another person in the same hospital right now and is going through tons of pain.

Did you ever take any painkillers during your lengthening?

It wasn't me in the video, and i have not uploaded any video while i'm in China.

I took about 2 to 3 tramadols/week while lengthening when needed. However, you shouldnt have any pain at all if you keep doing 4 turns/day.
I dont know anybody in this hospital going through that much pain like you said. I dont think anyone would check himself into a hotel for the weekend just to get a full body massage for pleasure if he has pain...

Frames Removal:

Its been 6 days since I got my frames off, so far so good. I still cannot lift my legs yet even though I dont have a lot of pain, I will not rush it, I will give them time to heal a bit before putting them to work.

Here are my xrays after the rods are in.

18 days after the frames came off. No pains, no knee-bending, no ballerina foot.
However my Dr told me: do not stand yet, do not put any pressure on the legs yet, have to wait for 3 weeks before i can start standing for.... Twice perday - 1 minute each time. ...

I am going crazy just to stay in bed. Hahaha

21 days after my frames came off:

start standing
Doctor asked me to stand for 2 minutes today. However, i stood for over 30 minutes to overcome my ballerina.

walking
After standing for over 30 minutes and still feel strong, ive decided to walk a little . I ended up walked to the other side to see some friends and walked back. its about 300m total.

Hopefully i can get stronger everyday. I want to be able to walk out of here by the end of March.

38 days after second operation.

Ballerina:
I still have a little ballerina in the morning when I wake up. It goes down after 5 minutes of standing. I have more ballerina on the right foot compared to my left foot.

Knee-Bending:
No more knee bending, although my right leg isnt flexible as my left leg.

Walking:
- with the supporter on and a walker: I can walk pretty well, i can walk for about 40 minutes without pain or anything.
- with the supporter on and without the walker: I tried this yesterday and it was not easy. I walked for about 10m without the walker and it looked funny, it was very difficult to balance myself. I still have some pain on both of my knees after walking without the walker, i think i wont do this again anytime soon. Maybe next week, when my legs are a little stronger.

Stair Climbing:
I climbed the stairs the other day, it wasnt easy for the first 10 steps, but it got a lot better after that. I also noticed going up is easier than going down.

-----
Anyways, i do have some pain today from all the walking I did from yesterday. Im gonna stay in bed and stay lazy for a day. :D. Hopefully i could be out and about again tomorrow.

Hi Stevie,

Nice diaries! I have been reading your diaries.  Hope you will be recover soon.
May i ask you a question? Is Dr.  xia retired now? So he does not do the LL anymore? I am planning to do the LL, but do not consult with them yet.  I am in beijing now.  I saw that you will stay here another three months, that's cool.  Maybe one day i can stop by to visit you and ask you some experience lol  ;) ;)  (If this is possible :P)

Thanks first! Maybe i will come to visit you after the Chinese New Year.  I am just scared that the staff or nurses  will not let me in.  Because one of my friend went to the hospital before, she just wanted to talk with some patients who did the LL, but somehow the nurse stopped her to talk with patients.  So when i came, i just tell them to visit friend.  :)

41 days after second surgery.

Standing:
I can stand as long as i like, i dont feel tired from standing anymore.

Ballerina:
I still have ballerina (very little) on my right leg. I goes down within minutes.

Walking:
I dont use the walker when i walk anymore, i push the wheelchair instead. I find it easier, and i can walk more freely pushing a wheelchair.

------
I still have trouble get up from the chair. I still need to hold on something to stand up, and it takes me few minutes to stand up straight if i dont use the walker.

2 months after second surgery.

Its been 2 months after my frames came off. I still feel a little stiff on both of my legs in the morning when i wake up. I need to stand 2-3 mins before start walking. I find its easier to walk at night.

I can walk for hours with the crutches; but without them, i can only walk for about 15 mins. I walk funny without the crutches too. I recorded a video of myself walking last night, but i just couldnt upload it to youtube, my VPN crashed like every 30 mins. Iwill try to upload it to youku later.

2 weeks ago, i walked 4-5 hours straight and after that i have some pain around both of my ankles, the pain is still there til today, maybe because i walk too much too soon. I was thinking about stay off from walking for 2-3 days to let them heal. I dont know. I want to be able to walk somewhat normal by the end of next month, i dont want to watse my time here doing nothing.

Everything else is fine. Weather getting better here in BeiJing...

2 months and 18 days after frames removal

I'm doing pretty good. I can walk without the crutches for about 3 to 4 hours everyday, but my achilles tendon hurts so bad after a long walk. My walking style improves a lot, i dont have that gangster walking style anymore. However, without the crutches, i still cannot walk as fast as a normal person.

I donot have either ballerina or knee bending anymore, but i still feel the stiffness in the head of my gastrocnemius muscle every morning when i just wake up. I kinda limping for the first ten steps before i can walk normal again. Hopefully i can get rid of this problem by the end of this month.

Thats all for now.

3 months after second op:

going home:
I went home without a wheel chair, without crunches, nothing. I walked like everybody else at the airport.

at home:
Everything is okay at home. Everyone noticed my new height yet noone knows how i got taller.
I walk pretty much like a normal person. i can walk up the stares, however when i go down the stares i still need to walk step by step like an old man.

over all:
I am doing okay after 3 months. Walking is not a problem anymore.

THanks for the videos buddy. How tall are you now by the way? You did 6.5 cms right?

Guys,
Im thinking of doing another 4 to 6 cm to my femurs. Reason being that my tibias are too long compared to my femurs now. I look at my legs in the mirror when i walk, it seems like my knees are too high.

For all future LL patients, here is my LL experience in China.

If i could do this again, i would save up some more money for internal femurs.
But..
If im gonna do external tibias again, i still go to China.

The Care:
- Doctors in China know what they are doing, they do this procedure every day.
- Nurses are always there 24/7 if you need them.
- There are always doctors in the hospital from 9 to 5 including sunday and holiday.
- The whole team of doctors including the head surgeon and our care doctor will come see us at least once a week.
- We can call Ronne anytime if we need her, she allowed us to call her even at 2 or 3 in the morning.
- Maids are always around, we can call them whenever we want to. In fact, they stay with us 24/7 for the first 3 days after surgery, they are always there for us, they do things without being asked such as...bring us water, massage our back, massage our butt, help us with anything we can think of.

The Food:
- Hospital's food is awful. Its smell makes us sick. Its look makes us angry. Its taste makes us regret coming to China for LL.

The Atmosphere:
- I think the atmosphere is China has shifted to India.
- We dont have a common room where everyone can gather if they like to.
- We dont have Physical Therapist there to help us.
- We dont even have our own wheel chair.
- We exercise at our own pace, some walk like crazy while some always stay in bed.

Over All:
China is a good place to do LL if you can over come the food and the atmosphere.

Hello Steve my LL buddy. I hope your recovery is going well. I still have pain at night in tibias and thighs. I think because the muscle
is growing back at a fast rate. I do have that sensation that my knees are too high but my femurs should be still 3cm longer.

I'd encourage you to not doing anymore surgeries my friend. Personally I'm having a hard time adjusting to what I have done to my
body so far and I will be trying to hide my new height when I go back to work soon by using crutches and stooping low.

I've been reading a few other forums besides MMT and peoples opinion of you when they know you have done this surgery is LOW. This is a problem for me that I did'nt anticipate before the surgery. One advantage for me is that I don't have many friends and I will be getting a new job soon. I told my best friend but I knew that he wouldn't judge me. I know alot of people don't have a problem with it but I do.

I am a few centimetres taller than you and you still managed to have way more success with the ladies in China than I did. Remember how you slipped that Chinese girl away from me by telling her I was married and then telling me that she was married? Nicely played Sir. And I am not an ugly guy, just you already have good game and confidence. Ofcourse its up to you but I'd say don't do another surgery.

Hehehe,
To be honest, i was thinking about adding another 4 to 5 cm to my femurs.
I still cannot walk as fast as a normal person, but I have no pain, nothing at all.
These days, i walk like crazy. I walk 4 miles in the morning, another 4 miles in the evening. I also walk a lot at work. Nobody could tell if i did LL. If everything going smooth i might do it again hehe.

I told my family about this LL procedure on the second day after i got back. They were very very happy for me; my dad told me this is one of the best decisions i have made so far;  my mom was very happy - she actually offered to buy me a new car ...which i later turned down. What im saying is that; as long as your family is on ur side, you shouldnt care about what other people are thinking about you. Trust me, they wont judge you, they wont look at you any different, they might not even remember if you did LL; they are too busy with their lives, they have their own problems to worry about. Nobody is perfect, we either accept it and live with it or...do something about it to better ourselves. Those whose judging u; they just jealous because you actually did something to solved ur problem.....while they dont have the gut to fix theirs.

About that Chinese girl.... I dont know what to say.... U gotta trust me, i didnt told her u were married.

Anyway, its amazing what 6.5 cm does to me. It gives me a whole lot more conffidence. I know im still shorter than a lot of people out there, but i rarely think about my height anymore. When i meet a girl who is taller than me, i say "yeah, shes taller than me", but it doesnt stop me from going after her anymore.

I dont wear those height increasing shoes anymore, i feel im tall enough. Its amazing...

If you really want 4-5cm on your femurs I support that idea since I want it my own.
Maybe you could swap the car for internal femurs? :D

Hello guys,

I think im about 80% back as who i was before LL. no more stiffness in my legs when i wake up in the morning; i can jump off the bed and start walking. I can walk as fast as people in Chicago (which is pretty fast) do. I can walk down the stairs (not running down) slowly without holding on anything. The other day i jogged around the whole block and i had some pain the next day, but its gone now - i dont think i would do that again anytime soon.

I still cannot squat; i still need to hold on something to stand up when i squat.

Thank you for your video!

Those are some nasty scars  :-\ you are doing great!
It looks like you have a little trouble bending your ankles to the maximum and you can't pull your feet up as one should but I think it'll be better by time.

I'm not sure I can do all of that. Not the jumping but I guess everything else. I am kicking every day now and force myself to the gym 1-2 times/day.

I can clearly see that your tibias are equal or longer than your femurs.
Have you ever been bothered by your new proportions?

What are your current thoughts about lengthening your femurs?

Thanks again!

/Sweden - 6,5 months past frame removal.

I still have a little problem rotating my left ankle. Its not that i cant do it, but its not as flexible as the right ankle, and i need to focus when rotating my left. Im working on that everyday.

I believe my tibias is about 1cm longer than my femurs. It doesnt bother me much, but it would be nice if i can add 2-4 cm to my femurs.

I can function a lot better with shoes on.

It has been 11 months frames free for me, however i still cannot squat sitting yet. I have started doing this sitting position for about a week now, my heels cant seem to touch the floor, if i force them down then i will fall back... It will be hard since i cant just doing this exercise anyplace else but home.

(https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&rct=j&q=squat+sitting+position&source=images&cd=&docid=t0V_4Cr_yTwqZM&tbnid=tAqE-XqKgvrJgM:&ved=0CAUQjRw&url=http%3A%2F%2Faboutlifting.com%2Ffeeling-fainting-and-passing-out-during-exercise%2F&ei=R8qaUqOlG4LDoATVwIGwDQ&psig=AFQjCNFWgX1fYXVNOSo2B0IKBRapcg1WYQ&ust=1385962186253976)

My walking is 100% normal. I can walk up/down the stairs. (I still have a little difficulty going down stairs. I walk slowly when i go down.)

-----

I dont know if this is normal, but my lower legs got really itchy sometimes at night. Its been 11 months since i got back, and last night was my 4th night that i had to scratched my legs until they re bleeding...it seems to happen every few months or so....

:(

Your photos doesn't work. Try to upload them in IMGUR.
Use the direct link.

You are 5 months ahead of me so your progress is very interesting.

I can't squat either with heels down. Then I fall back.
But on toes there's no problem to squat.

Downstairs is doable but I'm holding on to the bar just in case.

Hi Stevie!
Congrats on your recovery.
May I ask you how long did you wear your braces after your second surgery?
Thanks.

I wore them for about 2 to 2.5 months.

I wore them when i was in bed stretching (fighting knee bending).
I wore them when i was standing (in locking position to fight knee bending and ballerina).
I wore them when i first start walking again (but only for a about a week or so).

If you have normal callus it is safe to hop around by now. You need to put more force to your bones so they get stronger.
I started to hop around like that when I was in month 9 - but yes, I was very careful.

Without any treatment, it will need atleast 2 years for those scars to fade away.

I read that some of the doctors do scar removal as well? Although someone on here said it left indents on the skin.

With treatment how much less would it take to heal?

I live in a hot area so i wear shorts a lot so hoping on a shorter time frame.

There are always 5-10 patients there.

Today update:

After watching Sweden latest video... I've decided to do some single leg hurdle hops.

Bad move....

As the result, im now limping. My left leg hurts where the bottom screws are. Im not sure if its the ligament pain or....ive just broke the nails.

I hope the pain will be gone by tomorrow.

It has to be impossible at this stage to brake the nail. Your callus HAS to be fully joined.

If it's a ligament it can take up to a full week to recover or even longer if you pulled it severely.

I hope it's just new muscles being activated for you and you're fine on Monday.

I just did 3 new videos today and my right foot were hurting so much I had to abuse the Tramadol. It barely took away the pain.

Tell me when you're well from the ache.

Congratulations Stevie.
Your bones look like consolidations.
How much time do you wear the nails?

wow good job man I am 165cm would you think doing Xia for Femurs 6cm then tibias 6cm would be a good idea?  I really just cringe at these photos though but the cost on the other hand 25 grand? :O...

Good for you!! Best of luck.

Tell us how mobile you are after you're done and if it relieved any aches you had. Simply, if it was for the better of not.

I'm not planning on removing mine. I don't see the point of it.

hi all, thanks for all your wishes. the surgery went well, and I can walk again now.

- I got my surgery on Tuesday morning: came in at 8:30 am, came out at 10:30 am. I started walking again on Saturday night. I was on IV for 3 days straight, then they reduced the IV slowly. I just got my last IV today which is Sunday.
- no pain, I didnt have to take any painkiller.
- My right leg for some reasons is stronger than my left leg. my left leg feels a little discomfort at the knee cap (no pains, just a little discomfort, maybe it will feel better after the stitches are removed.) My right leg is 100% normal.
===============

to Sweden: I didnt have any aches at all before rod removal. I wanted to get the rods out just so I can be myself again. I dont like the feelings of having rods in my legs. I cant tell you if its for the better or not yet. DR said: "no running, no jogging, no jumping, no sports for 3 months, after that I can do anything I want to with my legs"

Hi Stevie, thanks for your diary, I've enjoyed reading it and it was most informative.

I was wondering about the final nail removal after LATN.  You had yours removed in January 2015.  After this removal, is it necessary to do another long period of rehab and recovery? Or are you able to run, play sports, etc soon after the final removal?

Many thanks,
Chips

Hi guys, Its been a while and today I have decided to go on mmt to post again. Just another update and my thought about LL.

Its 13 months after rod removal. Everything is just ok, not great but just ok. No pains, no aches, no discomfors, Ive never need a painkiller for my legs.

I can run (not as fast as i used to, but I can run pretty normal). It could be just my age dont allow me to run like I used to anymore. Im 36 now.
I can climb up and down the latter all day and feel nothing. (I did a lot of wall panting for the last few days)
I can craw on the floor all day ( I just put 2000 sqf of carpet tiles together by myself)
I totally forget that I had LL done.
I have noticed that I always looked at the mirror whenever I walked by one and admired my "model proportion" legs lol.
I might still short when standing next to other people, but I look tall when I stand alone....because of my longer legs.

However, I dont think that these legs are as good as my old legs....they arent as healthy as they used to be.
On a really cold day (less than 10F) And I have to stay in the cold, like when I walk to the car, I have noticed that i have a little tingling on my left shin, sometime a little pain like someone poke my shin with a needle. I dont know what it is, but its weird. This happened few times, it went away when I got inside.

Final thoughts:
If I could turn back time, I would go to therapy first before go to LL.
Think about it, im still very short (not even 5'6) and I dont think about height anymore or....I don't worry about being short anymore. It just gone.... I even made fun of myself for being short.

I can say that I have a successful LL procedure in China. Im not regreting about my LL journey. In fact, Im quite happy that I did what I did. However, I feel that I have jumped to the conclusion too soon that LL is the only option for me; I feel that if I have went to therapy I could save a lot of money and time.

Maybe I really dont need LL, or maybe LL was my therapy section. If I could do it again, I would go to see the therapist first before going through LL.

Peace out.

Is it weird that I miss China? I miss the time I had at the hospital. I miss the people that I met while getting my legs lengthening at the hospital. I miss that one chinese patient that visited me, supported me while I was so much in pain even though we didnt speak the same language.

its pretty weird eh...
