Is the cut on the knee similar to the original cut used to insert the rod?  Or is it much bigger/deeper?

Chri123: the cuts are about the same width with the old ones.
Med: they recommended to wait for 18 months and i got mine removed after about 24 months because i was busy at work.
I'm at home now and i will start uploading some photos of my legs. Below is the leg after 3 days, when i removed the big bandages myself.

how come when i upload to photo bucket my pictures are so small ?

I think you uploaded the thumbnail pic instead of the regular one.

Looks like you were just recovered after a battle and got a serious wound in your legs  Smiley
How long do you think it will take to be able to walk again and how long does it take to fade the scars?

Thanks for the update, 174! Those cuts look a little bigger than usual - do you know if they had trouble removing your rods because they were in longer than usual? It's possible that they needed more work as your bones would have been pretty strong after 24 months.

i'm not sure if it was hard for dr Peng to take the rods out, but i noticed that my knees all swollen badly after the surgery, so they did have to hammer it hard to take the rods out because they sticked to my bones.
About my proportion, i can assure you that i'm fine, the guys who met me in Beijing can verify for this  Wink

What the freakin hell man...
Those are some long nasty cuts.
Our original cuts where they had to insert the rods were no where as big.
Man, I'm not looking forward to getting them out now.
From the look of the cuts, I definately won't be able to walk less than 1 week.

My cuts were no way as big as that - they went in through the original cuts in my case - I think that 174's bones must have been much tougher, hence my question about consolidation. They are definitely not the normal cuts... 174cm must have Superman bones Smiley

lol, i hope it's not just me..maybe i waited too long to take it out.
by the way, not sure if it is the effect of rod removal or not, but i measured 175cm when i left the hospital. I was 174.x when i measured myself last time when i removed my frame almost 2 years ago.

My height varies throughout the day by a couple centimeters (tallest when I wake up), so that may be a factor.

Well, I might be in the same boat.
I left Beijing a little before 174cm.
I was going to get them out Feb last year but I wasn't confident that the bones were fully consolidated.
