Question: If you didn't have to pay for LL, would you do it, or is something else stopping you?
Yes, if money was no object, I'd do it now!
No, I'm scared and I think that people who do LL are crazy!
Doesn't apply to me - I've already done it Smiley

I know for a fact that if I'd no doubt have limb lengthening surgery if money wasn't an issue, as that's pretty much the main obstacle in regards to ever getting it done. Since that's unfortunately not the case (as funny as this may sound to most of you), I'm actually thinking about playing the lottery every week, and will just hope against hope that I'll somehow against all odds win, and can finally achieve my dream of finally being taller once and for all!

Unfortunately, until the day comes when I'll finally be able to realistically go for L.L., I'm sadly stuck with my short height for who knows how long. Hopefully this won't be the case for the rest of my life, as I'm even hoping I won't live that long if I can never be taller. Thank goodness we have shoes, and shoelifts to make us taller, which pretty much do the job for me, and is definitely the next best thing to increase your height besides leg lengthening.

Surely you can get another job or something to pull together $10k so that you can have it? If something is that important to you, then you have to make the effort to get it.

I don't think so... It is still painful,  complicate and lengthy process. Broken bone is no like broken teeth. Until a new technology or revolution of LL, which painfree or LL without surgery.

It's not about the money for me.  I fear that something could go wrong in the surgery or LL could cause health problems for me in the future.  The pain is also pretty severe and once you do it, there's no turning back.  Could quickly turn into 3+ more months of hell.  I would give $200k to be 3 inches taller (I only have about $40k currently, but I would honestly go $140k into debt) if the risks and psychological conditions of dealing with a rod in your legs could be removed or reduced.  I believe the surgery will become less painful in the future, but it's hard to say anything about the risk.  It will be a very long time before it becomes as routine as going to the doctor for a few shots.

Good question though, how much as LL technology improved over the last 5 years?  Seems like it has not changed much.  It's still a damn painful surgery that occupies 1+ years of life even in the ideal case.

$10K MMT? Internal femur surgery with Dr. Betz costs 42K Euros which is about $65K dollars; this excludes flight and living expenses. Most people don't have that kind of money no matter how hard they save.

Regardless, if I had the money now I'd still wait a year because it's major surgery and requires planning since I'd be off work for a long time.

I'd have to save for 3 years before I could afford this surgery. Thatís a long time, by then the price may go up. I don't understand why it went up from $39K Euros a year ago?  Does anyone know? All in all I think money is the primary deterrent. The risks are too great to go cheap on this surgery.

Hish, I don't get it. Why are you posting on an LL site, the LL site? I mean, how does it contribute to the forum, to anything about LL? Are you trying to discourage future LLers or something? Is that your aim? Is this the beginning of some long-winded troll rant about the vagaries of being short in a super-sized world? I just don't get it. Whatís your point? If you're not planning on doing LL, then why post? If you're waiting for some "miracle growth-spurt pill," then go wait in the quietude of your thoughts. If you think LLers have a few screws loose for actually going through with it, and youíre the sane one offering sound medical advice, then post a link to your psychiatric clinic. I doubt you even graduated high school. If your don't agree with the general principle of LL, then why are you posting comments? There are 100s of pre-LLers, LLers, and post-LLers contributing to this LL forum. MMT is a forum created by an LLer for LLers the world round! It wasnít created for over-opinionated wind bags like you. Again, I just don't get it! Why are you posting comments on an LL site?

Which means that you'd better get used to being the height you are, because there is no other way to get taller Wink

Let's see how you feel in a year when you have read about more and more people doing LL...

No , Understand my point of view please . . . .

   I think I'm shorter than my standards . . . So I hope to get a few inches taller than what I am now . . . . .

But my personal challenge is to keep this from affecting on my self confidence and force me to change my life for it .

I'll keep looking at LL as luxury not necessity , if I managed to enhance my height in natural ways then I got credits for my purpose . . .  Otherwise , I'll deal with this situation without any stresses or complexes through out my life . .

   In other words , I won't let my height tells me what I am . . .
But I will make the others know what I'm capable of .

Dude, wake up and smell the coffee...

You're on a site called "Make Me Taller" and you signed-up here for a membership. That's because you want to be taller. This is not a chat room that you came into by accident...

But you're scared to have LL, so will stay short instead.

Simple as that - nothing to understand.

If you're height didn't bother you, you wouldn't have been searching for this site in the first place, and the fact that you're trying to convince yourself otherwise is simply because you're in denial.

The bounce rate on this site is 0.22% - it means that pretty much everyone who comes here, meant to come here. Don't pretend that you were not looking for ways to become taller. We know that you were Wink

Don't be upset - we've all been there  Cheesy

Hello everyone!

I had an interesting dream last night...

I was watching the TV, and the World Health Organisation (WHO) announced that Leg Lengthening would be free for everyone because of new technological advances.

If that happened, would every do it, or would some people still be worried about the time complications and the possible health risks?

In a nutshell, is money the real issue that stops people from having LL done?

Let's discuss!

MMT

Yes, for me mony is the real issue, ( It is so expensive )

I'm not afraid of the pain or something else, it's the dammmmmmmmmmmmmmmm money

And yes i will do it if its free.

I wouldn't mind being a few inches taller than I am right now, but I am already 19. That means I don't have much room to grow. I wouldn't resort to LL to gain a few inches. If it is possible to take artificial growth hormones, that would be great. I am only 19, so my growth plates haven't completely sealed yet which means I still have some room to grow. If I was completely past my growing age, I must resort to LL for any height enhancement.

So if you're not interested in LL, why are you here?

And how do you know that your growth plates haven't fused? Many people stop growing by the age of 19 - only a doctor can tell you if they haven't fused yet Smiley

I would like to do it.  I'm 1. 71 and I would like to be 1. 80, but unfortunately I don't have any support from my parents.  Actually when I told my mom I would like to do it, she wished me to end up without legs  :(
And I'm so sad because every single from the (male) persons I know 1. 78 and over. . .  and also girls prefer taller guys.
If I had the money, I would do it right NOW!!!

I hear you buddy.  My height exactly.

for me money is the main issue, that and telling people where I am going.  Right now, only my mum knows, and I'll try keep it that way.

I was nearly shopped a few times when my girlfriend uses my pc, I'm clearing my internet history more times than a porn addict at the moment thanks to visiting this forum!  Haha, I need to figure out a way to tell close friends and family.  My plan is to finish my course at uni (June 2010) work for a year save money (£5000) I get a £2000 bonus once I've qualified, then I'll borrow the rest on a loan.

Sure I'll have another monthly expenditure to cope with, but I know people who have £150 phone bills or waste the same amount on going out to the bar a few times a week, or on some other cra*.

To be nearly 6 foot in shoes/boots and to get a strong body would make me feel invincible, I'd be able to do all I wanted, even if this means living with the parents till I'm nearly 25, who cares?  I have half a decade of my 20's and then my 30's/40's etc to build my life up.

Alternatively I could stay 5' 7.5" move out now, start building my life, but forever compare myself to taller associates.

I majored in Business Information Technology, so I may even work whilst doing LL, haha even update the website for the doctor I plan on using, for free of course just as a thank you for the care he and his team will give me.

MMT, as a professional graphics designer, do you feel more respected and confident in your work now taller?  Also did you work whilst LL?  Finally as a black British male, how do you find height has affected your life?  I'm white British and my black friends are all quite tall, is height important in different ethnic backgrounds in the UK?  Sorry if my questions are too personal!  Feel free to tell me to stuff off  Wink!  Peace to all Smiley

Hello! Yes, read my 'Life After Leg Lengthening'. Being taller has an immense impact on business relationships...

Yes, but not a great deal - only to keep some clients happy.

I don't think that it really makes a difference, but certainly a lot of black people in the UK are pretty tall, and I hated being average - especially as my younger sister was taller than me!!!! Smiley

When it comes to health related issues (in this case an elective surgery) I take things very seriously.  For me being healthy is the most important thing! Like with any other procedures I'm sure LL carries potential complications and risks.  So, even it was free I would still take into consideration all pros and cons of this painful, time-consuming procedure first.  Money is just one factor in decision making, but not the most important one.
