Your legs look great though brother.
If 100% was your pre-op condition, how are you now?
Does it look like you had a surgery when you walk/run?

Hi man. Now I'm about 100%. Does it look like -> nope. Actually I get comments from people I know who've done it alot that it doesn't even look like anything happened. I think alot of other members can corroborate this who did Albizzia-lengthening.

Well, I just read your whole diary in 2 hours now and wow!!!! I'm happy that your're fine now and it seems LL was a good idea.

I'm in my recovery right now (3 weeks PC) and in my latest xrays my bone healing wasnt that good as well.
So my question: I def. wanna take life seriously and be very careful in walking etc (esp. now). But can you tell me what exactly you might have done wrong? I also have a 11 mm nail. My weight is not that high (<50 kg), but I'm afraid sth like that can happen to me as well. In work I have to walk a lot propably on 1/2 a year. Don't want to bend/breal my nails Sad

So did you dance, walk a lot?

Hi Jessie! Sorry about the poor bone consolidation, I know what that's like - something you cannot control for the most parts, you can control nutrition, physio, walking, stretching etc. Maybe get that bone regeneration device (Exogen)? Yeah just be careful, take x-rays and stuff. you really don't want to bend/damage the nail..

How did it scare you? Andrew is an average level amateur athlete. I think that's what he was saying in the video. He can run for fun and play basketball for fun. If you are a professional athlete and you make your money from your body, you should probably not be considering LL at this point because the risks are too great. For the rest of us, the rewards outweight the risks, which is why we choose to go through it.

This^ But not because it looks unnatural but, rather so we can get a better idea of how your recovery has been.   Mind doing jogging, sprinting, jumping and so forth?

I'd like to say I'm sorry that I didn't write this earlier.  Please understand that I was in alot of trauma but now since time has passed yes this is needed to accurately reflect the diary and provide accountability for what in the hard truth is the diary of a lazy, impatient, young person.  I still am that but learning, slowly how to work with my faults growing up.  Hopefully if it can stop or bring awareness to one person with slow consolidation, and impatience from breaking his nail, it will be a success.  Albeit a sad one, but hey I'm ok with that.

I can tell you about how my right nail broke and my left one was bending.  It was a f**king horrible experience.  I was thinking about it last night, out of the blue.  I broke it in Singapore during the summer after my LL-op while going out to a bar with some friends; I was walking to the washrooms when my right leg suddenly gave way and attained a funny dislocated-like shape.  I sat down and my friend got an ambulance to the local hospital.  Embarassed myself in front of my friends but I guess that was the least of my worries.

Taking X-rays the rod in the right leg was broken clean in two, the left rod was bending really badly.  The doctors in Singapore told me they would in their care remove the rods and I would lose all my length.  I managed to get Dr Betz on the phone and he recommended that my mom and I fly out to Frankfurt to fix it.   At the time I was praying that I wouldn't lose all the 9cm that I spent so much time to gain, or even worse have to have one leg shorter than the left for some inderterminate amount of time.  So I took the first night flight to Frankfurt which was a traumatic experience to say the least as my right leg was dislocated in a temporary structure/case/brace? to keep it from moving, and steady.  When it (my right leg) now in a weird dislocated shape, moved it hurt so I tried not to move it on the plane ride and to/from the airport to the German hospital.   OMG it was effin horrible and I was definitely in a state of shock for the whole experience.  But Dr Betz fixed it [queue IV, general anaesthesia, surgery, replaced the old broken right, bending left with new rods], and I was able to go to school in crutches (for the first 2-3 weeks), eventually use just 1 crutch for like a week or so, donate them to some other kid who had a muscular injury, and not use crutches for the rest of the time although they were in my room/closet, eventually gave them away. .

and eventually remove the rods a year later.  For school with the new rods I took x-rays in London several times, did not do too much strenuous exercise, and scheduled some more physiotherapy.  Had a pretty normal uni experience although now that I think about it walking with my friends around London was a bit hard for me for my first term (for long distances) but still managed to get the typical 'uni' experience i. e.  hanging out, going out for nightlife, lectures, exams etc.  etc.  I did sweat or find it arduous to get from A-Z if it was like 2-3km+ but now that I think about it, it doesn't really matter.  I could probably walk 100 miles now. .  maybe in a later post.  OK i don't think it really matters, you can do pretty much what you were doing pre-op and maybe even more if you want to.

Fortunately the bone squidgy matter thing was not totally shattered but still there, it was just the rods were too weak to hold my daily activities at the time.  As detailed in my last posts, the bone has fully consolidated since several years ago.

In retrospect I should have replaced the rods (can't remember which nail size I have), taken more x-rays, and taken consolidation phase more seriously and been more patient with it.

But yea I guess facing up to the truth my diary/experience had a lot of errors and it's hard to face that.  I guess my contribution comes also from my many errors/hubris that some people can hopefully learn from like taking more post-op x-rays, and taking it easy with slow consolidation and not doing so much even if you are standing after LL and duck-ass and so happy with that [of course contingent on how slow your consolidation phase is going which differes from person to person].  I guess what I lacked was patience and x-rays and even more food and rest.  For a young guy I was in too much of a hurry to get back into the world.  So to some future LL-patient if you have slow consolidation with internal don't blame yourself but take it slow even though it is agonizing to be stuck in rehabilitation.  And also take lots of x-rays.

Feels good to get it off my chest finally.  I apologize for not doing it sooner, I can tell there's some kind of resentment or distrust but hopefully this post cleared a little of that.  It was not in my intention to provide a disingenous interpretation of the experience, but it seems that's what happened and in a way I deserved that.

But since then life moves on. .  I'm more fit now, ran a 1/2 marathon [21km/13 miles] recently in 2:23.  I've pushed up my running time for short distances to around 30 minute/5km, although I can get faster.  Fast pace for 1km is like 4-5 minutes.  Obviously far from sub-4, sub-3 marathon type stuff but I don't doubt it's impossible.
Looking to do more marathon, triathlon-type events and sports-related stuff in the future after university ends in London, UK (as it's quite concrete jungle), moving to West Coast / States or NY. 

*P. S.  Am I like a villain now of MMT? Can I have a supervillain costume and lair?
I guess what I need to do is learn more humour. 

Here's moi, finishing North London Half Marathon 21km in apalling time of 2 hours 23 minutes.  I guess it's kinda redundant to hide my face since it's on that youtube video but oh well.  Removed the part 1 video since I didn't feel it was adding value to the LL-process, research or community.  Also seemed to attract alot of unhealthy comments.
Also another thing I notice is that I can get off balance in crowded areas like night-club, music concerts and the like.  Feet lengthening? I have size 8 feet (US).  Do I wish I did only 7-8cm? Sometimes. .  But not really actually. 

should have trained more for the 1/2 marathon.  striations above my left knee in the pic above.  had to walk from 18-20km due to inner thigh cramps [probably due to weak adductors that I didn't know were weak prior to runnin this], but that has nothing to do with LL, I just didn't train enough/ get enough running mileage.

Activities done since then: snowboarding [2014], running, cycling, swimming, dancing, skydiving (once), jumping off of boats into the sea, having a girlfriend, breaking up, life, life, life, etc etc
