Proportionally short arms (within reason) don't really look bad to me at all. A lot of professional wrestlers have short arms. John Cena, Chris Benoit, and Rhino to name a few.

I'm not saying 5' 7" is short. I'm saying that in the United States a 5' 7" man is taller than 30% of the men, but shorter than 70% of the men. The whole "with shoes" argument is really silly, because a 5' 7" man will still be taller than 30% of the men WHO ARE WEARING SHOES and will be shorter than 70% of the men WHO ARE WEARING SHOES. He doesn't become 5' 8" - 5' 9" because he is wearing shoes and move up the bell curve or gain any advantage unless the 70% of men he used to be shorter than happen to all be walking around barefoot that day.

I agree with SysOp

I can vouch for this. I am almost 5ft 7 and I am short. I feel way shorter than 30%. I am still taller than most women but I feel shorter than 90% of men. Perhaps its not as many as that.

It's of course dependent on region and the male average there. Where I live, young ones are almost 6'0". That makes me around the 5th percentile, 95% of men are taller than me.

I calculated this a bit some time ago, roughly, with different height averages and 6-7 cm standard deviation.

If your local male average is 5'11", at least 90% of men are taller than you at 5'7" (170cm).
If it is 5'10", almost 90% of men are taller than you.
If it is 5'9", around 78% of men are taller than you.

Statistically.

Be happy you're taller than most women where you live! Wish it was me. Here, they are over 5'6" on average. I'm as tall as most of them, and shorter than many.

This is a great post on proportions particularly showing the long femurs of Zachary Quinto.
That being said do you think that his shirt being tucked in and pants pulled up a little
exaggerates his femurs a bit?

Since we are increasing up to 13 cm, here is a guy who did 14cm by using elevator shoes.
