Yes, it is within the realm of a possibility if you do one-leg-at-a-time. I drive now. I will be able to tell you for sure after my OP on my right tibia.
. Thanks Mr. Tall, I don't want to loose my current job, I can do my LL much quicker, since I don't have to save for my backup.

Yeah it's difficult to time when the approval will go through. I cannot wait that long so if that is the case I'll go with Dr. Betz for femurs. Hopefully the 8cm nail will be available by the time I do my tibs.
I was thinking the opposite, based on Apotheosis' tibia experience w/ Dr. Betz, I'm thinking Betz for tibias first and waiting for the 8cm Precise for femurs to eliminate the need for clicking on femurs or going back to Betz for femurs. The ability to not be confined to a wheelchair is very attractive to me and my needs.

That's a huge difference. 3 months ago, Dr.M's office ( through e-mail) was saying that it would be the end of the year or beginning of 2013.... now it is pushed back to 2-3 years.... that will change some plans.

@Transformer - Good one!
Maybe something will happen and it will be available sooner rather than later.

It"s all hearsay at this point. I talked to the Precice rep about it & he confirmed a 8CM is coming. I would bet it will be sooner rather than later because Dr. Paley is really pushing for it.

I have been trying to contact the Betz Institute for a few weeks now. No response from phone or e-mail. I wanted to ask about this topic and Precise and just generally set up a consultation. Does anyone know how to contact them or why this might be? I've used their e-mail (info@betzinstitute) and the phone number on their site (I get the standard "you've reached the Betz Institute. . . " answering machine).

Prof. Betz is on holidays, try contacting him next week. If you have send them an email, hopefully you will get once he is back.
Hope this helps.
best Regards,

Is this really true for Dr. M (even if one lives in the east coast)? This would probably seal my choice of Dr. M over Dr. P if so! Hell yeah Dook. 8cm by the beginning of 2013... maybe 5-6months..... we'll see. I am frothing at the mouth right now.
As for Precise being lengthened by the doctor only, Paley apparently does require the lengthening in his office but Dr.M seems to allow the ERC machine to go with the patient so you can lengthen at home and be supervised by your P/T.

Infinity88 or anyone else who knows,
Do you know for sure about Betz being away? Why wouldn't they have an auto e-mail response or a voicemail saying they are closed for 2-3 weeks? Just seems like a long time to be away
Thanks - plus, have you had contact recently with Betz?

I know of a couple of patients but they are both in CA. You would probably want to ask him during your consult.

I'd like to do the PRECICE too, however, like you, I'm more interested in the 3 inch nail than the 2. 55. I sent an email directly to the company and a PRECICE sales representative emailed me back right away today regarding the 8 centimeter nail and she said, "We want to get this product out as soon as possible but it is still a few months away. " So I'm guessing we're looking at late winter/early spring until the 8 centimeter nail comes out.

More people should email the company to confirm the 8cm PRECISE arrival date before they get their cocks up from a one post member, especially when we had contradictory info from before.

I've been lurking here for awhile so I guess I can understand why you would be so skeptical. Go to the company's website: hxxp: www. ellipse-tech. com/ Click on "Contact" and choose from the following: PRECICE Sales - PRECICESales@ellipse-tech. com
MAGEC Sales - MAGECSales@ellipse-tech. com Customer Service - cs@ellipse-tech. com Human Resources - hr@ellipse-tech. com Investor Relations - ir@ellipse-tech. com I sent an email to the one in bold and got a reply the same day. Would you like to read the reply from the PRECICE representative? Here it is: "Our engineering department is designing a PRECICE nail that will lengthen up to 8 centimeters. It is in the development phase right now and then we need to get US clearance to sell the product which can take up to 90 days. We want to get this product out as soon as possible but it is still a few months away. " Still don't believe me? Email them yourself.

Most every Email and phone correspondence to the company and Dr.M's office has put the 8cm nail available at around March of 2013. One post on here stated it was 2-3 years out and it put everyone in a panic The original time frame of March 2013 still seems valid.... we will see in a few months.... delays are usually inevitable.

Does anyone out there feel equally important to the future of PERCICE is the strength of PERCICE nail to allow for crutches during the distraction phase and not a wheelchair? Can we not push the company to also develop a STRONGER nail? Staying in motion is criticle to healing. (the single bone approach -crutch option- for we petite folk means 4 surgeries - ugh!)
