Arche: I could take a picture of the kitchen and post here but it wouldn't matter because we're moving to the new guest house in 2 days. I swear man, either me or ST, we will take a video tour of the new guest house and post it here... I think that'll satisfy your need for pictures! lol.
To all: I'm nearing the end of my journey. I have set the frame removal date to July 30th and I will set/confirm my return ticket to around August 9th. If I missed your questions please repost them, I'll be happy to answer them. I have learned a great deal about this procedure and a lot of its medical aspects through doing research and I was lucky to have a roommate like Cooldoc (a physician) teach me everything about LL. I had a pretty smooth ride up until the last couple of days with only some minor speed bumps. Honestly, just having the knowledge of why/how something is occurring the way it is, reduces a lot of stress and anxiety from LL.
LMAO we gotta start charging @Arche for all of his photo & video requests Also.. I agree with you completely. Having a physician as a roommate is sucha invaluable resource in a procedure like this. I'm really happy for you that your about done! Sucks I didn't get to chill w/ you man.. would of had a blast at the guest house. See you in a few days bud

Or lack thereof Hey 6ft, Doing good. I will be done lengthening in 7 days by the time you probably see this. I attribute being able to lengthen so fast ( I will not post details) due to my extreme flexibility. Usually always do some stretching before I lengthen as my ritual lol. I have had 0 tendon stretching pain, but plenty of general pin cutting pain/ nerve pain due to pin cutting. I have always just focused on the end result to push through whatever pain/ inconveniences there has been. Wish you luck when you decide to do your surgery.

Hey Kaizen. What kind of stretching did you do, and for how long? What did the nerve pain feel like to you?

Ilike8cm: Ahhh, Dr Chaudhary. Heard some horror stories about him. lol Here's one: http://www.makemetaller.org/index.php/topic,845.0.htmlRockieo: That is a very reasonable question. I suggest that you save 15K for the whole Journey. That'll cover your plane ticket, the cost of living and the surgery and some other things here and there such as supplements. Personally I got by fine with $ 14,400 which included my $1200 plane ticket Surgery: $10,000 Stay: $1000 per month (inclusive of food, medications, etc.) Plane tickets: $1200 two way (600 per trip). Studentuniverse.com has the cheapest flights to India but idk if you need to be a student. Emergency cash: ~ $500.
To anyone who is curious about the current situation in India:

It is a great place if you like your tendons cut without asking. Chaudry and Mirzoyan. 2 pieces of total sh*&%t. In case you didn't see my diary, Chaudry cut my achilles tendon while I was walking fine. without asking me.

There is proven record of his money greed. I met him personally and I found him extremely greedy. He was ready to put nail (rod) inside my tibia when I was wearing frames in my Tibia and asked me around 10000$ for it which was insane. When I asked him about the infection with LATN method- he said 100% chances are there and he would not be responsible for it if it happens. he is extremely rude in his behavior and careless in his profession.

Crazy, is there a higher chance of infection with LATN than LON?

Yes, LATN have proven record of infection. You can Google search research papers on it. It is mainly because of the pins in external fixator. If any of the pin is infected and it touches nail while insertion- it infects entire bone. Dr. Paley have different strategy of pin placement which avoids pin touching during nail insertion and hence he is successful in LATN method but most of the doctors say it is high risk to put IM nail after lengthening due to pin placement. As of now LON is best methods until it is proved that LATN is risk free after successful research papers on it. We cannot rely on some researches which are going on in different part of world. I dont think anyone would be ready & happy to become a research subject for LATN researches which are going on. Cheers Crazy+6

So LATN is where you place the nail after you have lengthened and have the pins removed. I don't see how this increases infection rate over where you have a nail in the whole time with LON. Dr Sarin is of the opinion that this is the case, but I just would like to understand why. I think he is correct because of his good record of infection rates. The only article i could find is http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2628243/. Another interesting point was that the bone reaming actually stimulates growth, which is counter intuitive to me. Interesting.

In LON, Nail is installed at the time of 1st surgery with external fixator and all pins are installed in same time. So chances of infection is very very less. On the other hand - In LATN- nail is inserted before removing pins and if any one of pins would be infected- it will infect entire nail. Chances of infection increases exponentially in this method. There are very few doctors who are using LATN and it needs different type of pin placement to avoid infection. It is still in research phase. When I was doing research for my Tibia frames removal - I discussed with many doctors to insert nail and all of them denied it because of high infection rate.
