@Nicebutwise: There has been a lot of discussion on this forum regarding the shortcomings of Fitbone.  I've attached the link below for your convenience.  Please also be aware that "the man who invented the Fitbone (Dr.  Betz) recommends that you use a different device to lengthen your legs (the Albizzia or the Betz Nail), why would you disagree with him and want to use the Fitbone?" -Sysop 5/6/2011

Thanks for the response.  I am aware that there has been discussion on this board in regards to the Fitbone technique, but there hasn't been "a lot" of it.  I felt that I should just risk it.  I would just like to say I had a thought about it and would like to under go the Albizzia technique instead.  Like I said, I'm am poor, so my budget is low.  I'd love to go to Germany, but everything would be expensive considering the trip cost and the surgery itself.  48,500 euros is $60,000 in Australia.  It would take a teacher a year to earn that much in Australia.  I've looked in the other sections of this board but could not find a location that would suite me in terms of cheap costs and such.

This website lead me thinking that FITBONE would be the only option for internal hxxp: www. shortsupport. org/Health/Leg-Lengthening/hospitals. html

Yeah I understand where you are coming from. Fitbone seemed like a Godsend but turned out not to be. I really wish it would've been up to everyone's hopes.

I don't believe we have one Fitbone diary on the forum. I spoke to one doctor who told me that it was just too unreliable. That is a shame because it was so promising.

Not too many ISKD diaries either. There is a guy from Brazil who wrote one with ISKD.... same problem though reliability...... distracting 1-3cms in a day is crushing pain wise and complication wise as well. There are enough reliable options so that these can be taken off the table.

I have heard ISKD has a new PIN that corrects the malfunctions while lengthening.

I tried to visit this place on my trip but the holiday prevented me from doing so as they were not open.  The doctor there said for ISKD it would be around 26K USD.

Guys who had consultation for LL surgery with ISKD  few weeks ago. Maybe an e-mail to Orthophix can clarify this.

26k USD is really a good deal for internals with ISKD. In the end will be the same thing as Precise, and you can do 8 cm.

No offense, but what about Fitbone being unreliable & unsafe don't you understand? I have spoken to Dr. Betz personally about this & so has every other prospective patient he interviews. THE INVENTOR OF THE DEVICE WON'T USE IT ANYMORE! Seriously, you're going to hurt yourself dude....

Sorry Nicebutwise! My bad, but you seemed pretty determined in previous posts. I apologize! As for ISKD, it also has issues. Most US doctors are shying away from it.

Apology accepted. I just want to find the cheapest, reliable and doable option for me, because I'm only 17 and I just got a job. I'll be saving up for a couple of years with my mum helping me with the money as well.

About ISKD, you guys must ask doctors and specially Orthophix, because it seems to have a new PIN wich reduces the issues. But it must be comfirmed. As ISKD is cheaper than Precise, it can be a good option!

Around7, you keep bringing this point up, but you yourself haven't confirmed it with OrthoFix! According to what I've heard in the US these rumors are totally false & just hearsay. What we do know as fact is that doctors are refusing to use it! You're right about it being cheaper than Precice. So if it was a cheaper, viable option, don't you think that doctors would want to use it? Huh? More patients would want to do the surgery with them & their profit margins would be greater...Huh?

Orthofix is in deep water with the DOJ over their bone growth simulators.

http://www.justice.gov/usao/ma/news/2012/June/OrthofixSettlementPR.html

$42 million global resolution to resolve investigation into the marketing and sale of bone growth simulators

BOSTON - American medical device manufacturer Orthofix, Inc. has agreed to pay over $42 million to resolve criminal and civil liability arising from the illegal promotion of its bone growth stimulators Orthofix Spinal-Stim, the Orthofix Cervical-Stim and the Orthofix Physio-Stim.

Pursuant to the plea agreement, Orthofix has agreed to plead guilty to an Information charging it with a felony, namely obstruction of a federal audit. As set forth in the Information, for years Orthofix manipulated Certificates of Medical Necessity, an important form required by Medicare to be signed by a physician attesting that the bone growth stimulator was medically necessary. Medicare accounted for approximately 25% of Orthofix’s bone growth stimulator business. Orthofix manipulated these Certificates of Medical Necessity in a number of different ways, including: (a) having Orthofix sales representatives fill out the entire form, including the medical necessity section; (b) forging physicians’ signatures in the section of the form certifying the physician’s belief that the device was medically necessary; (c) filling out or improperly coaching the physicians’ staff to fill out the estimated length of need field as “9 months” for every patient without regard to the physician’s medical judgment about an individual patient’s estimated length of treatment.

Orthofix has not conceded liability or wrongdoing as part of the civil settlement.
