I am currently trying to convince my specialist that leg lengthening is a vital surgery in the long term quality of life for childhood cancer survivors so would very much appreciate if I was able to have access to PMs to speak with other members experiences

ok I wont lie. that got my attention. how do you expect to pull that off? what angle are you going with?

Well I've found out that with the NHS they will basically act on the amount that you complain. So its not always down to whether they think its feasible in terms of the treatment, more so about the actual impact it is having on your life.

In regards to leg lengthening and childhood cancer, i've brought up the incidents of breast cancer in women. The number of women that have suffered from breast cancer has become so high that through their lobbying they have been able to convince the NHS that they should be entitled to breast reconstruction.

In my case, the treatment has not just effected my height there are many other areas too that have been effected by the treatment. So my argument is that I can thoroughly understand there are somethings that have been effected by treatment and cannot easily be reversed, but leg lengthening is a fairly easy solution that would improve my quality of life tenfold.

I don't wish to go into too many details here, but just want to say that before I had cancer people treated me very differently to after I had it, and now as Im older the long term effects have left their mark. My small size seems to be the main reason why I get picked on regularly in social situations such as a simple night out in a bar. The whole aspect of addressing the long term effects of the treatment is something new, so I am currently fighting not just for me but all patients that have to suffer the illness.

I want to stop the pain that other people suffer from the change in the way people treat them, and improve the treatment system for the better. Its sad enough to have your childhood taken away, but when that contiunes into your teenage years, and your adult years, then something has to be done.

Leukaemia is cancer of the blood. Back in the 1980s, they had no proper understanding of how to treat it so gave cranial radiation in certain trials. The effect of the cranial radiation along with the other forms has a massive impact on how the body grows hence why the case of leg lengthening surgery seems very feasible as I have already undergone years of growth hormone replacement that failed to make barely an impact on my growth. The next few months should shed some light on the matter.

ahh very true. I forgot about the deadly treatment as an angle. I was thinking purely from the pathology of the actual disease.

ps. cancer is a nutritional deficiency disease. it has a cure.

I'd like to be a certified member too.  I'm a prospective LL and AL patient.
I wanna post a thread with pictures. Though I've joined just yesterday but I've been a long time lurker.

Hello, I had some important questions, stuff which was difficult finding online.  Would I please be able to get posting privileges? I want to ask everything under 1 post so I know which direction to take if I decide LL is right for me.  Thanks.

Hey guys, does anyone know if ISKD is a good method for tibia lengthening.  I've heard that people had  problems with it and had to do a second surgery.  Anyone know anything about the method?

Hello SysOp

"Bigfaker asked me to post this to you":
Hey SysOp. I changed the email associated with my account and I can't log in now. I get a response saying 'Your email address needs to be validated before you can login.' I got the notification email on the 7th, but nothing since. I also emailed you offsite. I don't know if it's a technical thing, or you're just too busy, or another issue...but anything you can do would be really appreciated.

Big faker is trying to update his diary after his recent surgury.
