Hi S2,
Welcome to our community!
I understand your predicament, and have met several people with similar issues.
Alas, if you don't want to leave America, you'll probably have to take out a loan to have the operation there, but if you decide that you're happy to go overseas, many of the surgeons mentioned on our board (Dr. Mitkovic, Dr. Betz, Dr. Guichet and Dr. Li, for example) have experience of helping people with requirements similar to yours.
Check out the diary section to learn more about people's experiences with those different doctors.
Good luck!
MMT admin, Why do you mention Betz and Guichet here? They are also very expensive, and it doesn't seem like her problem is "medical." Do you think because of her proportions, the European doctors might consider it "medical" and help her out financially? Oh, and I voted for more attractive to the opposite sex, though I think that and increased confidence go hand-in-hand. I actually wouldn't care about my height except that it frustrates me to no end that my dating pool is so small.

Do you think because of her proportions, the European doctors might consider it "medical" and help her out financially? Because she said that she is concerned about health standards outside America, but these guys have standards at least as high and probably higher than what she would get in America. Of course, they are lot more expensive than an American surgeon too. As for her being 'broke', cosmetic surgery is not for broke people!

I am considering LL because being short (5'6) just doesnt suit me. Its as simple as that. I am proportionate and very healthy but an extra 2.5 inches would boost my confidence no end. Which is what i need. Im not an unconfident person but being so short compared to all my friends and family is starting to annoy me. I excel at everything, im really athletic and perform well at Uni, more so than the average person BUT when it comes to my height its CHECKMATE - i lose by default. I have on the rare occasion, been the tallest person in the room and it is a buzz... no wonder tall people are more confident.

I considered LL because i wasn't happy with my height and because i felt i had to correct my bow legs anyway (they gave me knee pain and affected my sports activities) So it was win win for me and here i am in Serbia and just lengthened 2mm

I am considered good looking if only i am taller. That's what alot of girls said about me. They usually would say "too bad, you're too short, or else i would really consider you. Right now, you can only be my friend". I guess having a cute face but w/o the height is something that will really piss us off. I think Jack is in a similar situation. He is a good looking guy but he doesn't got the height. Actually, his height was way below average for guys. I'm glad he had the courage to undergo LL and changed his life. Now standing at 166cm, he is close to the average of asian men. Which in my opinion would help him get alot more accomplished in life whether it is about career or on attracting the opposite sex. I am in a very similar situation as Jack, therefore i will not hesitate to undergo LL after my education is done. I'm looking to get it done around October 08. The height increase would be 8cm on tibia for me in Beijing

I am considering leg lengthening because... I'm just such a spoilt brat. That, at least, is the public perception of what my dream has been for some years now. I'm average height (170cm) for a girl and currently living in a country and city where a woman is expected to wear high heels. So far so good. However, since early childhood I have always been involved in activities, where I would one of the very few women: ski jumping, mountaineering, sky and scuba diving being just a few examples. Don't get me wrong, I've also done ballet . In the profession I have chosen women are also treated with some suspicion, even by other women. Again, don't get me wrong, I'm not a feminist - just fond of a good challenge. So, of course, whatever I do, no matter how well I do it and how much I am praised by my male colleagues, more often than not I am looked down upon, albeit only physically. I understand that this is probably not how men perceive my looks - it is, after all, normal for a girl to be small and fragile - but it is my perception that matters and, boy or girl, I usually am the shortest person in the room. So, in short, I am considering LL to increase my confidence and to better adapt to the environment I have chosen to live in.

I think 165 +/- 5cm is considered average for females. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Thank you. I guess, it also varies slightly depending on the country. Take the Netherlands, for instance - the average height there is about 168-169cm (Google-confirmed ). As for my 'data', I got it from the Bliskunov Simferopol Clinic website http://www.bliskunov.com.ua/index.php (in Russian) a while ago.

Im considering LL because I just want to be taller, plain and simple. For me, being taller will bring more confidence, more girls, and just an overall higher quality of life. I don't stay up at night and cry about my height by any means but I've always fantasized about being taller, I just never thought it was actually possible... until now! My two tall brothers always make fun of me for being short, and even though it was always in good nature and I never took it personal, it always bothered me on some level. I always felt "left out." I just want to feel more masculine for once instead of like a little boy, especially at my family reunions where all the guys are over 6 foot.

Everything in the poll except for medical reasons. I'm planning on doing it purely for cosmetic reasons.

I'm average height (170cm) [. . . ] I usually am the shortest person in the room.
You are 170 cm and the shortest person in the room? Are you from Scandinavia or central Europe? That would only explain this. :) I'm 162 cm and live in Germany, which is pretty lame :( Don't take me wrong, but if I'd see you in the streets I would get jelous of your height. . . Well, if more height makes you happy, then I cannot say anything! Everone has its reasons. . .

A lot of people who come to this forum to find out about LL don't write a diary when they actually do their LL.
